The Dispatch Magazine
The Commemorative Air Force
The Dispatch was a magazine that was put out by the Commemorative Air Force, a non-profit organization who's main purpose was refurbishing old war planes back to flying condition. Their demographic had always been the older generations but to be more successful and relevant they needed to appeal to a new, younger audience. I was given full creative freedom to achieve that goal.
All I was given were Word documents and, maybe, a couple of images for each article. I would read the articles and design around the information. I created original artwork based on what I read and often wrote copy when needed. The new direction was so successful that I took the publication from a quarterly, black and white distribution to a monthly, full color, thirty-four page magazine.
